Congressman Boswell strongly believes that all Americans deserve reliable access to high-quality, affordable healthcare. With healthcare costs rising at alarming rates, Boswell has voted to dramatically expand funding for children's health insurance to cover low- and moderate-income children, increase assistance for low-income seniors, negotiate for cheaper drug prices in Medicare, and improve coverage of preventative care under Medicare.

He has authored legislation to provide a refundable tax credit to individuals and small businesses that purchase health insurance and has cosponsored legislation to make Medicare drug plans more user-friendly.

Boswell understands the important role that medical research plays in advancing new therapies, treatments, and detection capabilities which is why he has consistently supported substantial increases to medical research funding at the National Institutes of Health, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other federally-funded institutions. Boswell recognizes the promise of stem cell research and has consistently voted to provide federal funding to advance scientific and medical knowledge through stem cell research. He also understands that physicians, nurses, physician assistants, and pharmacists all contribute to providing robust healthcare for Iowans. Boswell supports increasing Medicare physician payment rates, respects the role of nurses and physician assistants in the provision of care, and has cosponsored legislation to keep local pharmacies in our communities.
